You are able to climb this staircase in the upper lighthouse to the base of the light tower. Unfortunately the entrance to the light was locked so I was not able to go up and take pictures of the lens. Point Loma, CA 'Minolta X700 35mm SLR' (Click for larger view)

This view of the lower lighthouse on Point Loma is taken from near the upper lighthouse. The lower lighthouse is actually used as a residence and is closed to the public. You can only see this lighthouse from a distance. There is a road down to the tide pools that allows a closer approach but it does not present the dramatic view seen in this picture. This view of the military cemetery on Point Loma only shows a small portion of it. It was a very humbling experience to take a picture here where so many soldiers that have severed now rest.
